Consultation is an important cornerstone of content regulation as it ensures that guidelines are in sync with community values and norms. More than 260 members of the public from all walks of life help MDA to regularly review content codes and guidelines to meet with changing needs and expectations.
The guiding principles behind MDA’s regulatory work are:
· To protect the young while providing more choice for adults;
· To uphold community values and support racial and religious harmony;
· To safeguard national and public interest;
One of the ways MDA meets this challenge is to seek feedback and guidance from the community through advisory committees and focus groups. Members of these committees come from a cross-section of society, representing various age groups, races, religions and professions. They advise MDA on content standards and guidelines, as well as suggest improvements to the regulatory framework.
There are currently ten advisory committees and two appeal committees. For more information on any of the committees and to better understand their roles, please click on the links below.
