Looking Out for the Industry

MDA hosts networking event for industry players.

AN industry networking event was held on 23 November 2009 at MDA for over 30 representatives from the film and video, publishing and broadcasting sectors.

The industry representatives voiced their views on policies, and MDA shared on its pro-business initiatives and introduced its service owners.

MDA is stepping up dialogue sessions with the industry to gather feedback on policies and issues. The annual Media Business Forum will be held in the first half of 2010. Look out for other sessions this year.

Welcoming the face-to-face meeting, Mr Inder Kumar Sharma, Vice President, Uptron, a video games distributor, said: "This event has allowed me to get to know the MDA officers I’ve previously been in touch with through phone calls and emails."

During the "breakout" session, the participants were grouped into their sectors and encouraged to raise their concerns in discussions facilitated by MDA service owners.

From the affordability of compliance costs to content regulation guidelines, from MDA's responsiveness to the transparency of its processes, the industry representatives put forward their feedback.

Mr Kevin Balhetchet, Managing Director, Xinya International, a pan-Asian broadcaster and content producer, said: "With the markets continuously evolving, industry players have to keep talking to MDA, and MDA has to adapt accordingly to industry demands."

More networking sessions are in the pipeline. You too can do your part to help create a pro-enterprise environment for the media industry. Join us at the next networking event. More details coming soon.
